I just stumbled across this list of 52 cooking tips yesterday. It basically troubleshoots a number of common cooking and baking errors. A few of my favourites: #8. Knowing your oven’s idiosyncrasies. As someone who moves a LOT I’m always having to get used to new ovens. I pretty much always end-up burning a few things before I figure out how hot the oven runs. I should definitely be using a thermometer like they suggest. I also like the idea of the “bread test” they suggest to determine where your oven’s hot spot is. #44. Is a tip that I always use when adding fruit to muffins. If you coat them in flour before adding them to the batter they won’t all sink to the bottom. There are lots of other great tips on there too.
